our story
It began with a question…
Gordon and Sherrie Rogers’ children asked them to create a place where young artists could truly belong—a place that celebrated both creativity and faith.
As devoted followers of Jesus Christ, Gordon and Sherrie have spent over 50 years working with young people through church youth ministries, Sherrie’s practice in adolescent and family therapy, and the open door of their home. Over time, they noticed that young artists, who often don’t quite fit into church programs focused on sports and recreation, can feel overlooked and discouraged. Inspired to fill this gap, they partnered with Tim and Nancy Botts to launch Masterpiece Ministries in 1995. Tim, an internationally acclaimed calligrapher, brought his own passion for the arts and faith, making him a natural and invaluable partner in this mission.
Our first summer camp took place in 2002, and each summer since, Masterpiece has remained dedicated to creating a space for young creatives to come together, nurture their gifts, and deepen their walk with God.

Whether you’re an alumni, parent, or a friend interested in our mission, we would love to have you join us in our journey. Each summer we need a group of counselors and staff to be in-person at camp and parents to help support us at various events.
Can’t be there in person? Partner along with us through prayer for our students and staff and consider donating. We also encourage you to follow our social media to stay updated on our latest stories.
