Masterpiece Project Summer Camps

Masterpiece is unique in its emphasis on the creative process in addition to skill building, all in a non-competitive environment. Participants will concentrate primarily on one of the following interest areas: drama, music, visual arts, or writing. All of our instructors are educated and skilled artists working professionally in their fields. Each has a vital relationship with Jesus Christ and incorporates their faith experience in their studio classes. Students will also be able to explore other media through additional workshops and special presentations during the week. Dialogue with adult Christian artists and fellow students is actively encouraged to enhance our communal understanding of the value of God’s gifts to His children. Each student will be encouraged to share their creative work with the camp community and to find joy in offering their artistic expressions in times of worship. A collaborative project has also become a tradition at Masterpiece camps and is designed to stretch students to work together with artists in various disciplines. In past years these have included installation art, film, and performance pieces. This project is presented on the last day of camp and leads to a closing time of worship including parents and friends.

Daily Schedule

Students will begin each day with Bible reading, prayer, and journal writing, as well as community worship. They can expect to spend 5-7 hours a day in class instruction, individual exploration, or collaboration. Presentations by visiting artists, open mic, recreational activities, a dance party and a traditional campfire are additional special events during the week. Experiencing Christian community is a primary goal and is continually fostered. Personal and public responsibility will be stressed. Policies pertaining to safe and cooperative communal living, adherence to state and federal laws, and campus requirements will be enforced. The use of tobacco, alcohol or other drugs, vandalism, violence, and leaving the campus without permission are not permitted.
